Sandstorm in Riyadh

Last week ,Riyadh witnessed a severe sandstorm .The Headlines from a local newspaper appeared ''Sandstorms blanket Riyadh, Dammam'' (Arabnews). This is what one experiences living here ..and its quite common... Sandstorms are sudden and unpredictable. Within minutes, desert winds of moderate strength can whip up enough sand to close down all outdoor activities.Small grains of sand are tossed into the air by the wind and then it usually falls back down to the ground after a few hours....no rain and fierce winds combine a nasty environment that can drop to low visibility......causing major traffic jams ...usually it ends up in with a few drizzles of rain....remaining indoors is equally unpleasant, minute particles of sand all over the place ...for one would wish the sand storm would get over fast ..because of the irritating dust ...(This was the limited knowledge i had on the sand storm ...)I was curious to know what exactly happens when a sand storm occurs ...while browsing to get more information on this subject ,I crossed through an article that fully changed my opinion....I was thrilled to learn the facts about the sandstorm and how nature takes its own course of action, and resolved not to complain and grumble whenever a sand storm occurs.
'' But Soviet Meteorologist have - in Karakoram desert- made investigations into properties of dust storms and found that they are Nature's way of controlling extreme climates. The strong winds raise the dust up to form a screen in the atmosphere, guarding the earth from the intensity of the sun's heat. The surface of the desert ,scalded by the summer sun,is considerably cooled when it erupts in a dust storm. Sometimes the resultant change of temperature can be felt ,say,in America and the Arctic as far afield as from Arabia, and central Asia .Such is the order of nature''(Simple Wisdom -April 26)
Lets imagine, the region without sand storms ......Imagine the scorching heat under the blistering sun......its hard to imagine ....(Sometimes before deriving at a conclusion....getting full information and knowledge on a certain fact is important ....if not we'll land up complaining unnecessarily ,that in turn can be hidden boon which we don't realise.)
